A pressure relief valve, or 'breather' which allows the pressure inside the enclosure to be equalised with the external atmospheric pressure. This is supplied fitted to a blanking plate for our outdoor RouterstationPro/ALIX 2+6 waterproof enclosures.
In extreme heat or cold the internal pressure can be sufficiently lower or higher than the outside pressure to cause collapse of the enclosure seal, resulting in possible water ingress.
Generally an ambient temperature range of -5 C to + 30 C will not require a breather, though fitting one prevents problems before they start. Outside these ranges fitting a breather is strongly advised.
This breather is only available for purchase with the enclosure and not as a stand-alone part.
