LTE Connectivity for SOHO
February’s surprise announcement was MikroTik’s Chateau series. The affordable range of dual-band access points come with 4G/LTE connectivity, ranging from Category 4 to Category 18, providing a secure AP to those areas where coverage is provided via 4G/LTE instead of traditional fibre or wireless. The Chateau also functions as a small-scale router, featuring 5x GbE ports and a full-size USB port.
Most models will be available to order later in the year, but for those looking to take advantage of MikroTik’s latest addition, the Chateau LTE12 is available to order now. Boasting integrated 4x4 MIMO antenna and Level 4 RouterOS Licence, the Chateau LTE12 allows for throughput speeds of 600Mbps with carrier aggregation.
High-Performance PoE with 40G Fibre
MikroTik’s CRS354-48P-4S+2Q+RM is a rack-mountable Cloud Router Switch that combines 48x PoE Out Gigabit Ethernet Ports with 2x QSFP+ 40G fibre ports and 4x 10G SFP+ fibre ports. All 48 Ethernet ports offer different power output options: Passive PoE, low voltage PoE, 802.3af/at (Type 1 “PoE” / Type 2 “PoE+”) with auto-sensing, making this switch the easiest solution to power even the largest setups.
Introducing Reverse PoE
Announced last year with their GPEN range, MikroTik’s netPower 15FR is an indoor/outdoor 18-port switch with 1x PoE out port, 2x SFP ports and 15 reverse PoE ports. Ideal for installations where it will be difficult to run power to, but also acting as the data splitting point for a multi-client network, the netPower is a low-cost solution for delivering the internet to multiple rooms within a single building. 2x SFP ports are also provided for fibre connectivity and the outdoor-rated enclosure allows the switch to be installed in a range of environments.
Training Courses Filling Fast
Last month we helped another 10 engineers qualify as Ubiquiti Broadband Wireless Admins and spaces on our upcoming Ubiquiti and MikroTik courses are filling fast. If you’re looking to get started with MikroTik or Ubiquiti, or you’re an experienced installer looking to gain some additional knowledge, we have the course for you.

Dedicated Facebook Group for Ubiquiti Installers
Ubiquiti recently launched a Facebook group dedicated to connecting installers from across the UK and Ireland. The group serves as a hub where installers can talk about their implementations, ask questions, and talk about any and all things related to Ubiquiti. The group will be managed by Ubiquiti’s social media team and will also feature announcements of new product releases.
You can take advantage of this fantastic, growing community here.
