What happened in January?
Welcome to our first Month In Review for 2020, where we’ll discuss recent events and updates from MS Distribution.
Enhance Your Point-to-Multi-Point Deployments
It’s been a whilst since Ubiquiti first announced the LTU chipset. Designed in house, the propriety technology is the next step in Ubiquiti wireless performance. Installers have already seen the chip in action in Ubiquiti’s airFiber5XHD point-to-point radios, and now at last, it’s PtMP’s turn.
Designed to scale in hard RF environments, Ubiquiti’s LTU range offers improved spectral efficiency and modulation over existing airFiber architecture. There are currently three units available. The LTU Rocket acts as the basestation whilst the LTU Pro and LTU Lite act as CPEs.
The LTU Rocket features 2+ Mpps processing, proprietary RF filtering, and flexible GPS sync for superior performance. Channel width flexibility (10/20/30/40/50 MHz) allows independent TX and RX channel frequency configurations anywhere within the radio band to avoid local interference.
The LTU Pro is not impeded by the limitations of standard 802.11 Wi-Fi technology. It features an integrated high-gain dish for long range and high performance. Channel width flexibility (10/20/30/40/50 MHz) allows independent TX and RX channel frequency configurations anywhere within the radio band to avoid local interference.
The LTU Lite offers the smallest form factor and a 13dBi gain antenna. With router mode support and auto power adjustments, it is ideal for shorter range connections in high density environments.
Ubiquiti's UniFi Dream Machine Pro (UDM-Pro) is an all-in-one network appliance for a scalable network in an office, retail, or hospitality environment. Powered by a fast 1.7 GHz quad-core processor, the UDM Pro combines multiple functions into a single device:
- Advanced Security Gateway with Built-in Switch
- Dual WAN Ports: One 10G SFP+ and One Gigabit RJ45
- One 10G SFP+ LAN Port
- Embedded Enterprise Software: UniFi Network
- 3.5" HDD Bay for NVR Storage (2.5" HDD also supported)
The UDM Pro includes the UniFi Network Controller so you can manage your UniFi Switches and APs. It can also run the UniFi Protect software for convenient monitoring and complete management of your camera surveillance system. Video recordings are stored on the built-in NVR (hard drive not included) and can be easily accessed using the UniFi Protect mobile app.
Get Familiar with RADWIN in March
On Tuesday 10th and Thursday 12th March, MS Distribution will be presenting the RADWIN UK Roadshow. Each event will feature two sessions: The morning session will be focused on WISP attendees, while the afternoon session will be focused on System Integrators.
The Roadshow will be held at Anfield Stadium, Liverpool, on March 10th, and at Ascot Racecourse on March 12th. Each session will be approximately 5 hours long and will provide a tailored look at the RADWIN portfolio and how it can help you to provide better connectivity and performance in both new and existing networks.
You can find out more about the RADWIN Roadshow, and register a place at any of our sessions, here.

New Ubiquiti UKI Installers Group on Facebook
Ubiquiti recently launched a Facebook group dedicated to connecting installers from across the UK and Ireland. The group serves as a hub where installers can talk about their implementations, ask questions, and talk about any and all things related to Ubiquiti. The group will be managed by Ubiquiti’s social media team and will also feature announcements of new product releases.
You can take advantage of this fantastic, growing community here.
