UniFi Network 11: Deeper Visibility, Smarter Routing and Matter Support

UniFi Network 11: Deeper Visibility, Smarter Routing and Matter Support

Ubiquiti has released UniFi Network 11, bringing a substantial set of updates across network visibility, gateways, cybersecurity, SD-WAN, and connected device management.

A re-engineered telemetry engine sits at the centre of the release, providing greater scalability and more detailed insight into network activity. Alongside this, Network 11 introduces new routing and failover options, WiFi WAN connectivity, AI-assisted threat information, and new support for viewing Matter and Thread devices within UniFi.

For home networks, businesses, and larger multi-site deployments, there is plenty to explore.

See more of what is happening across your network

One of the biggest changes in Network 11 is a completely re-engineered Telemetry engine.

Ubiquiti says the new engine delivers more than 30% better scalability, helping UniFi provide deeper network insight as the number of connected devices and the size of a deployment increase.

New Live Traffic Flows provide real-time visibility into traffic from devices connected through a UniFi Gateway. This makes it easier to see how network resources are being used and investigate unusual or unexpected activity.

Network 11 also introduces Time Machine Topology, allowing users to look back at how their network topology has changed over time. Rather than only seeing the network as it exists now, you can review previous states to help understand when devices appeared, disappeared, or changed connectivity.

More flexibility from UniFi Gateways

UniFi Gateways gain several practical upgrades in Network 11.

Expanded VLAN capacity gives more room to segment complex networks, while updated Routing Policies are designed to make traffic management easier. Network Lists can also use external URLs, allowing firewall rules or VPN resources to reference lists that can be kept up to date outside UniFi.

Another useful addition is WiFi WAN.

On supported models, an available WiFi network can now be used as a primary or backup WAN connection. That could include tethering to a smartphone hotspot when a fixed internet connection is unavailable, giving users another option for keeping a site online.

More control over multi-site connectivity

Network 11 also expands UniFi's SD-WAN capabilities with new policies for failover and application routing.

Custom failover policies give administrators more control over how connectivity responds when a connection becomes unavailable. Application-based routing can then direct particular types of traffic over specific connections or paths.

For organisations operating multiple UniFi sites, these policies can be applied as part of a wider multi-site network strategy, helping keep routing behaviour and resilience more consistent across locations.

Clearer CyberSecure insights

UniFi's cybersecurity tools are becoming easier to interpret too.

Customers using Cybersecure Enhanced can now receive AI-assisted explanations alongside threat information from Proofpoint's daily threat signature updates.

Rather than only presenting an alert, Network 11 can provide additional context around the threat, including its potential scope, risk and impact, alongside recommended actions.

This should make security information more approachable when an issue needs investigating, particularly for users who may not spend every day working with network threat data.

UniFi becomes Matter aware

Network 11 also moves UniFi further into connected device visibility with support for Matter.

UniFi can now work alongside an existing Matter controller. By entering a Matter pairing code, compatible devices can be brought into the UniFi interface to provide additional insight into their connectivity and status.

Information can include details such as battery status, firmware and signal strength, helping users see more about devices that previously sat outside their normal network management view.

It is an important distinction that UniFi is providing additional visibility here rather than replacing the existing Matter controller.

See IP and Thread devices together

The Matter additions go further with a new unified IP and Thread topology.

Network 11 can display devices using both technologies together within UniFi Topology, giving users a clearer picture of how connected devices communicate across the environment. Custom alerts can also be configured for important IP and Thread devices.

For homes and businesses beginning to deploy more Matter and Thread hardware, having this information alongside the rest of the network can make connectivity issues easier to understand and troubleshoot.

Make devices easier to recognise

Sometimes the smallest changes make everyday management easier.

Network 11 introduces custom device icons, letting users replace an incorrectly identified or generic device image with their own.

An icon can be uploaded through the browser, or the UniFi mobile app can use the phone's camera to create one.

It is a simple addition, but potentially useful on networks containing large numbers of connected devices where being able to identify hardware quickly matters.

What does UniFi Network 11 mean for your network?

Network 11 is less about one headline feature and more about providing a clearer picture of the network as a whole.

Live Traffic Flows and Time Machine Topology improve visibility. New gateway and SD-WAN controls provide more options for resilience and routing. Cybersecure Enhanced makes threat information easier to understand, while Matter and Thread support extends UniFi's view into a growing range of connected devices.

For an existing UniFi deployment, that means more information is available when something needs monitoring or troubleshooting. For growing networks and multi-site environments, the improvements to telemetry, routing, VLAN capacity, and failover provide additional tools to support that expansion.
