FAQs

Q1: What is the Ubiquiti WaveFiber ONU and what is it used for?
A: The Ubiquiti WaveFiber ONU is an optical network unit designed to terminate passive optical network (PON) fibre connections and convert them to copper Ethernet for high‑speed broadband access in enterprise, campus, or service provider environments.

Q2: How does the WaveFiber ONU connect to a fibre network?
A: The WaveFiber ONU connects to the optical distribution network (ODN) via a fibre connector from a PON system and converts that optical signal into Ethernet or network data for local devices and network equipment.

Q3: What interfaces are typically available on the WaveFiber ONU?
A: This ONU normally includes one or more Ethernet ports that provide data output from the optical link to switches, routers, or end‑user networks, enabling high‑speed internet delivery over fibre.

Q4: What types of networks is the WaveFiber ONU suitable for?
A: It is suited for fibre‑to‑the‑premises (FTTP), fibre‑to‑the‑office (FTTO), campuses, and service provider installations where PON technology delivers broadband services to multiple endpoints.

Q5: What physical and deployment features does the WaveFiber ONU offer?
A: The ONU is designed with a compact form factor that fits easily in racks, cabinets, or customer premises installations. It provides reliable fibre termination and conversion while simplifying integration into existing network infrastructure.
