FAQs

Q1: What is the Tycon TP-MS4x4 and what is it used for?
A: The Tycon TP-MS4x4 is a 4-port Gigabit passive PoE mid-span injector that delivers both network connectivity and DC power to compatible devices over Ethernet. It’s designed to simplify deployments of PoE-powered equipment without requiring separate power sources at each device.

Q2: How much power does each port of the TP-MS4x4 deliver?
A: Each of the four PoE output ports can deliver up to 1 A of current per port, allowing robust powering of compatible PoE devices such as access points, cameras, and DC-powered network gear.

Q3: What does “PoE out volts = Vin” mean on the TP-MS4x4?
A: The phrase “PoE out volts = Vin” means the injector passes the input DC voltage directly to the PoE output. The powered device receives the same DC voltage provided to the mid-span’s input, making it important to match the input source to the device’s required voltage.

Q4: How is the Tycon TP-MS4x4 installed and powered?
A: The mid-span injector connects to a DC power source and distributes both power and data over Ethernet cables to connected PoE devices. It is typically installed between a non-PoE switch and PoE-powered endpoints in the network.

Q5: What applications is the TP-MS4x4 suitable for?
A: It is ideal for small to medium network installations, managed PoE distributions, surveillance systems, wireless access point deployments, and any scenario where multiple DC-powered PoE devices require combined power and data from a central power feed.
